The 80/20 Rule Would not Work for Parent...

I am an enormous fan of the 80/20 rule for work, family tasks, and even cleansing…

…however it does NOT work for parenting.

This New 12 months’s, I requested myself, “What would make the most important distinction for myself and the children?”

I knew the reply instantly: no extra back-talk.  They’d want to make use of the abilities I’ve taught them (find out how to do what I say cheerfully or disagree in an acceptable manner). 

So, I instructed them I’d be in line with corrections…  and if we are able to make utilizing these abilities a behavior, we’ll make a journey to Nice Wolf Lodge in April.

See, I’ve realized that the 80/20 rule doesn’t work for parenting.  When you’re solely 80% constant, your youngsters will stroll throughout you…

…and so they’ll be offended once you do right their habits.

After all, dad and mom can’t be 100% in line with corrections and praises (we’re human, in spite of everything).  So I set MY aim as being 98% in line with corrections – and with praises.

I gained’t lie – it’s been exhausting (particularly as a single mama).  However 4 weeks in, I can see a distinction.  And at night time, after I really feel exhausted from correcting and praising 5 youngsters, I channel my inside marathon runner…

I’m within the messy center, however we’re enhancing.  I shut my eyes and film them laughing on the water park – and the smoother days coming as we shift to wholesome life abilities they’ll carry into maturity.
